Message from Jenna Bennett
Hi everyone, my name is Jenna Bennett. I graduated from Cape Fear Community College in 2007 with my ADN and I have been a practicing nurse for just over a year. Prior to becoming a nurse, I attended Appalachian State University where I earned a BS in Psychology. Currently I work nights at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in the Emergency Department. I like having to be on my toes and think fast and critically in order to react appropriately to each patient’s unique situation. My areas of interest within emergency nursing include sepsis, cardiac pathophysiology, trauma/burn resuscitation, and all types of shock.I like to spend my free time exercising, hanging out with my husband, watching football (Go Appalachian!) and scrapbooking. I also enjoy reading and did a lot of it this summer, knowing that all I'll be reading for the next year is textbooks!I decided to return to school for several reasons. Primarily, I'm at a good point in my life to pursue another degree-no kids yet, supportive husband and great job. I also know I want to pursue an advanced practice or education masters at some point. A BSN seemed like a logical next step since I want to start a family and get several more years of experience before pursuing a Masters. I am looking forward to this experience and hope it will be enriching both to me personally and in my practice. (Posted on 8/20, 2008)
